A Day With Val !

On Saturday, May 22, 2004 at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd,

RiverBells hosted an all-day workshop with Valerie Stephenson, nationally

known handbell clinician, conductor and composer as the featured leader.

It was an extremely enjoyable and highly educational day for all participants!

Below are some of the workshop's highlighted activities.

Val started our day with ...

a vigorous reading session.

Sandi led the bass bell class.

Wendy demonstrated 4-in-hand.

JennyMay recharged the battery.

Paul directed the directors.

Val cleared up some conundrums.

RiverBells got coached (big-time).

On Sunday, May 23, 2004, also at the Lutheran Church of the Good

Shepherd, RiverBells presented a concert along with Shepherd's Bells,

the bell choir at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.

The concert featured many of Valerie Stephenson's compositions,

with much of the commentary provided by Valerie.

RiverBells would like to express their sincere gratitude to the following individuals

and organizations for helping to make this weekend-long event a success:

The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for providing our venue

Shepherd's Bells for participating in our concert and being gracious hosts

Tammy Sigl, Director of Shepherd's Bells for her invaluable help all weekend

Mel and Gail Tully, of West Coast Handbell Supply for being our workshop vendors,

helping to publicize the event and providing music for the reading sessions

Jason Moore for his excellent photography

Wendy Williams for her exemplary effort as our Workshop Coordinator

And, of course, a BIG thanks to

Valerie Stephenson

for taking time from her busy schedule; for coming all the

out from her home in Florida; for turning out to be such a wonderful lady;

and most of all - for making the entire weekend so much fun!
