Celebrate a holiday tradition at the California State Capitol in downtown Sacramento. Holiday music |
|
fills the dome daily, as California's State Capitol features holiday concerts in December. Visitors can enjoy |
|
a different musical presentation each day in a rotunda adorned with decorations and turn-of-the century |
|
floral arrangements. The Capitol's Holiday Music Program recaptures a tradition of festive music and |
|
decor, which began with the grand opening of the Capitol in December of 1869. |

Victorian Christmas, the old-fashioned celebration held each year in Nevada City, evokes holiday memories |

of an earlier era. During the event, Nevada City's landmark historical district is closed to motorized traffic and |
|
transformed back in time. Christmas melodies and costumed characters, along with holiday celebrants fill the |
|
streets, sampling the outdoor fare of friendly hawkers and vendors of food and goods offered by downtown |
|

In 2007, Nevada City will feature its Victorian Christmas on Wednesday evenings, December 5, 12 and 19, |
|
from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, and on two Sunday afternoons, December 9 and 16 from 1:30 to 6:00 PM. |

RiverBells will provide musical entertainment, including Christmas favorites, for the Sunday afternoon |
|
celebrants on December 16, beginning at 2:00 PM. In previous years, RiverBells has performed |
|
for this event in front of Broad Street Furnishings at 210 Broad Street in Nevada City. |

Sponsored by the Crocker Art Museum and held on the fourth Sunday of each month from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, |

the Crocker Classical Concerts feature a solo or small ensemble performing many classics and |
|
original compositions. Due to the Crocker Art Museum Expansion Project, the Concert Series venue |
|
for 2008 is planned for the campus of California State University, Sacramento. |
